Autism Spectrum evaluation
Recommended if you are concerned that your child demonstrates differences in social communication, interaction, or exhibits restricted, repetitive patterns of behaviour or interests impacting functioning at home, school, or in the community.
The Process
Session One : Clinical interview (1 hour)I will meet with you and your child to obtain informed consent, relevant background information and offer opportunity to ask questions about the process.
Session Two : Cognitive assessment and clinical interview (2 hours)I will evaluate your child's cognitive functioning using the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V), and ask your child further questions about their symptoms, wellbeing and level of functioning.
Session Three : Autism diagnostic interview with parents / caregivers (1 hour)In the form of a clinical interview, I will ask you about your child's development, preferences, strengths and concerns using the Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum (MIGDAS -Parent)
Session Four: Autism diagnostic interview with child (2 hours)In the form of a clinical interview, involving sensory play, I will ask your child about their sensory use and interests, language use, social relationships and emotional responses using the Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum (MIGDAS -Child)
Session Five: Report and feedback interview (1 hour)I will go through your report and diagnosis with you and your child with personalised recommendations, and offer further support if needed.
In between face-to-face sessions: • Psychometric questionnaires will be provided to parent, teacher and child to obtain collateral information for differential diagnosis purposes • Please provide school reports to assist with evaluation Cost Please enquire using contact form Includes 7 hours of face-to-face consultations Administration of all psychometric assessments Detailed report with diagnostic impressions and personalised recommendations
